Los 80. Serie Oro.

Hace un montón de años, allá por 1990, entre Bill Allerton (entonces en Plastic Passion, hoy en Stand Out Records) y la revista Bucketfull Of Brains organizaron una encuesta para elegir los mejores discos de la década de los ochenta. Ese listado, mítico, debatido y escrutado hasta exprimirlo por una ilustre minoría de melómanos, se reproduce a continuación.

Hay algunas notorias ausencias debido a que su fecha original de edición coincidió con el final de la década, y quizá por ello no fueron tenidas en cuenta por los votantes. Algunas ya las apuntaba entonces el propio Bill Allerton: El "Distemper" de New Christs, "Live at Raji's" de Dream Syndicate, "Auntie Winnie album" de Bevis Frond, el "Enquire Within" (guau!) de los Steppes o el primer disco de Stone Roses son buenos ejemplos.

Seguro que algún disco más hay por ahí que merece entrar en la lista. Pero, desde luego, lo que aquí aparece es de una seriedad a prueba de discusión. Yo tengo en mi colección un porcentaje muy elevado de todo esto, y debo decir que es material que nunca me ha dejado de interesar. Lo disfruto como entonces -o más-, y para nada he tenido la sensación de que haya envejecido mal. Más bien al contrario.

Esto es lo que definitivamente marcó mi juventud, bien encaminada ya entonces gracias al pub-rock, los Jam y el "London Calling" . Creo que es música y son discos que han moldeado bastante la persona que hoy soy. Procedamos con los primeros cincuenta títulos.
