Chris Lee's Supagroup New Band

Chris Lee, best known as the beer-slinging front man for the raucous New Orleans rock band Supagroup, met with four similarly inclined rockers in a Bywater backyard on Tuesday (May 27) to rehearse for the Saturday (May 31) debut of his new quintet tentatively known as the Chris Lee Band.

Members of the new group are Johnny Brashear on lead guitar, John Gray on drums, Terry Lagarde on bass and Eric Laws on rhythm guitar. Lee said the new outfit will allow him to unveil a selection of songs he's written and collected over the years that he feels don't exactly fit the Supagroup pure rock aesthetic.

The Chris Lee band debuts at The Circle Bar, 1032 St. Charles Ave. sometime after 10 Saturday night with the Green Demons and Quaalord. At this writing Lee remains unsure of the sequence of bands. 588.2616. Cover charge: $5.
