THE ONLY ONES

The Only Ones se formó originalmente en agosto de 1976 en El sur de Londres por Peter Perrett. Perrett había grabado Demos desde 1973, y a finales de 1975 se introdujo a guitarrista John Perry como temporal bajo. (El guitarrista en ese momento era Glenn Tilbrook de Squeeze). Perry se quedó en guitarrista y luego encontró Perrett al bateria Mike Kellie (ex -Spooky Tooth), Y bajista Alan Mair que anteriormente habían tenido gran éxito con la Beatstalkers que se convirtió en numero 1 en Escocia. Su primer individual "Lovers of today", Se hizo inmediatamente 'Record of the Week' por tres de los cuatro principales documentos de la música. Un año más tarde firmaron un contrato con CBS. Su próximo sencillo "Another Girl, Another Planet"Fue una muy influyente y popular canción, y sin duda su canción mas conocida. El álbum The Only Ones fue lanzado en 1978 y fue bien recibido por los encuestados y los fans. Su siguiente álbum fue Even Serpents Shine lanzado en el año siguiente y después Special View (1979) y Baby's Got A Gun (1980) En 1982 la banda se separó oficialmente. En los años siguientes la banda ganó un culto feroz y sus registros a título póstumo a publicar - actuaciones en directo, BBC TV y radio muestra, y álbumes recopilatorios - Ahora superan en número a sus discos oficiales.

The Only Ones han sido muy influyentes en la indie rock y rock alternativo escenas desde entonces, en bandas como The Replacements, Blur y Nirvana, Y más recientemente, The Libertines. En mi opinión los mejores son los dos primeros "The Only Ones" y "Even Serpents Shine".

mas grandes que la puta vida.

cuando empece a escuchalos lo hice con el remains,y no creo que sea un buen disco para la primera vez.



este es todo un discazo,y despues el remains entra mejor

Gran grupo, un icono underground. Sus canciones tenían 'algo', cuesta emparentarlos con otras bandas en cuanto a sonido (los Replacements quizás sean lo más cercano). Tienen temas absolutamente brillantes, aparte del, ejem, célebre 'Another Girl...
'No Peace For The Wicked' o 'Lovers Of Today', por poner sólo dos ejemplos, me parecen obras maestras.

Y que Peter Perrett siga en pie a día de hoy es otro de esos milagros que a veces ocurren en el mundo del rock...

Muy buena banda, de esas que tienen algo especial
