Re: Dr. Feelgood (pub-rock)
Honestidad en el RnR?dr feelgood.....Entrega en el RnR?dr feelgood,of course.......el material audiovisual de All Through The City (With Wilko 1974-1977) es demoledor, excitante ,sobrenatural.......Lee Brilleaux era Dios,Wilko el demonio y The Big Figure y Sparko artesanos de una sección rítmica tan honesta como la banda.....honremos a nuestros heroes ........!!!!

Re: Dr. Feelgood (pub-rock)
Taking No Prisoners is a new 4CD+DVD set from EMI that celebrates the four year period where Dr. Feelgood had guitarist John ‘Gypie’ Mayo in their line-up.
Wilko Johnson had left in early 1977 and in April that year the Canvey Island band introduced their new line-up by way of a secret warm up show in their hometown. By summer ’77 they were making the first record with Gypie, the Nick Lowe produced Be Seeing You. Three further studio albums would be recorded with Mayo, including Private Practice which contained the UK top ten single Milk And Alcohol.
After what he describes as a ‘four year binge party’ Gypie Mayo quit the band and the end of 1980 (although he would stay on for a further six months), in part, to spend more time with his family.
Taking No Prisoners contains all four studio albums from this era (Be Seeing You, Private Practice, Let It Roll, and A Case Of The Shakes), two live albums (As It Happens and On The Job) and previously unreleased live performances. The DVD contains a feast of video including BBC Sight and Sound In Concert programme from December 1977, five Top Of The Pops appearances, six promo videos and London Weekend Television’s The South Bank Show with Melvyn Bragg which was broadcast in June 1981.
The superb packaging matches the original All Through The City set, with a very attractive ‘book set’ presentation with a treasure trove of photos, adverts, essays, sleeve art in the 72-page booklet included.
Taking No Prisoners is released on 24 June 2013

Re: Dr. Feelgood (pub-rock)

Dr. Feelgood Guitarist Wilko Johnson to Record Final Album With Roger Daltrey
Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson is preparing to record one final album and he’s chosen Roger Daltrey as his partner. The Who singer met the 66-year-old at an awards show this month, and they have since worked out the details.
Last spring Johnson began a farewell tour after receiving a terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis. He performed all but the final two shows in his hometown of Canvey Island, Essex. The London Mirror reports that Johnson has written some new songs since his diagnosis.
They did tell me in January I’d be dead in October,” he says, “but I may last into next year. I hope we’ll have something done before I go.”
Johnson promises the songs won’t be morbid. “The music I want to continue to make, I think, generally should be a laugh not a cry. So there’s not going to be any cancer dirges.”
As a member of the pub rock band Dr. Feelgood in the early-to-mid-70s, Johnson was an influential figure in the British punk movement. He has fronted his own band in 1978, but also spent some time with New Wave act Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
Johnson has a tumor the size of a small football on his pancreas, but has chosen to not undergo chemotherapy. His wife Irene died of cancer, so he knows how hard his death will be on those he’s close to.
“When my wife was dying, that was despair,” he told the Mirror in August. “I am still in love with her. The most painful thing in my life is that she’s gone.”

Yardbirds, Dr. Feelgood Guitarist Gypie Mayo Dies
Gypie Mayo, who played guitar for Dr. Feelgood and the reunited Yardbirds, has passed away. He was 62.
Mayo replaced Wilko Johnson in Dr. Feelgood in 1977 and stayed with them until 1981. In 1996, he joined the restructured Yardbirds, playing guitar with the band until 2004. Johnson wrote on his Facebook page earlier today, “Very sad to hear Gypie Mayo passed away this morning..RIP Gypie.”
According to NME, Mayo, who was born John Phillip Cawthra, started his music career with a group called White Mule in 1969. He kicked around various bands until 1977, when he replaced Johnson in Dr. Feelgood.
Mayo played on six of the group’s albums during his four years with the band. He co-wrote Dr. Feelgood’s only U.K. Top 10 hit, ‘Milk and Alcohol,’ and also played on four of the band’s other five songs that hit the charts.
No cause of death has been given at this time.

Tony Parsons speaks exclusively to an unsinkable Wilko Johnson as he undergoes treatment for pancreatic cancer - one so complex, it doesn't even have a name yet...

WILKO LATEST - OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
Wilko is recovering following a nine hour operation on Wednesday in which doctors successfully removed a pancreatic tumour.
The head of the medical team treating Wilko said that they were happy with his condition.
Wilko will stay under very close observation for the next few days. Although cautiously optimistic the team have to stress that it is very early days yet.
The family thank everyone for their good wishes and ask for some privacy at this time so they can support Wilko with his recovery in peace.

- See more at: http://www.rockrockradio.com/noticia/2483/doctor-feelgood-publica-nuevo-recopilatorio/#sthash.pI2u5HA6.dpuf
