THE MARS VOLTA SE SEPARAN!

Puerto Rican guitarist from the nu-prog rockers The Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, has confirmed that the 6-part group have officially entered in a hiatus, stating that he does not know whether or not the group will reunite, but that it is not something to worry the mind.

"I don’t know [if the band will reunite], and I'm not insecure enough to have to ask myself that. It’s like, we've done that for ten years, eleven years. Now we’re all doing different things, and everything that we’re doing informs how we express ourselves, and so if that happens then it happens and if it doesn't it doesn't."

The spastic guitarist has also confirmed a brand new project along side the drummer from the aforementioned group, Deantoni Parks, titled "Bosnian Rainbows", from which an album is expected to be released next year.

In addition to that, charismatic lead vocalist, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, is currently working on a solo project, which is also expected to be released next year.

Si es definitivo es una lástima; además tenía la esperanza de verlos en sala, pero al menos me alegro de haber podido presenciar su incendiario show en el Azkena.

Por otro lado este tipo de separaciones pueden ser tan tajantes como, de aquí tres o cuatro años, significar una reunión, entramos en el estudio, nuevo disco y blablabla...

Ha sido quizá el grupo que más me ha impactado en cuanto a su desbordante imaginación y originalidad en crear universos sonoros que te alejaban de la realidad y te transportaban a otro mundo,junto con Tool.

El vacío que deja su ausencia difícilmente sera llenado o compensado.

Espero que tras unos años reflexionen y vuelvan.Por el bien de la música.

Totalmente deacuerdo con todo. No me gusta la noticia pero por lo menos no esperan a sacar discos la mentables o a dar pena por los escenarios como han hecho otros. Lo hacen en un momento creativo acojonante. Con dos cojones!!

Tristisimo, una de las bandas de mi vida, los he preferido mil veces antes que ATDI, pero es cierto que Omar es muy voluble y se ha encoñado con Teri, ese ejemplar de fémina que se mira en el espejo de iggy pop y no llega ni si quiera a lamerle el espacio entre dedos del pie de cedric, y para mas señas me jodió el bolo de barcelona en el cual invertí ''sabiamente'' mis vacaciones y ahorros. Joder debería haber ido al azkena a verlos.

Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album. I tried my hardest to keep it going… But Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead. I can’t sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta… I honestly thank all of you for buying our records and coming to our shows. You guys were a blast to play in front of. We could never had done it with out you. My dream was to get us to the point were Jon Theodore and Ikey Owens came back but sadly it’s over. Thank u a million times over for ever giving a fuck about our band.

For the record I tried my hardest to get a full scale North American tour going for Noctourniquet but Omar did not want to. All I can do is move forward with my music and just be happy that mars volta ever happened at all. God Damn we had a blast. Thank u again. I just feel really guilty for not even really saying the truth because a hiatus is just an insult to the fans. To all our fans all over the world thank you for giving a fuck. You all ruled! I don’t think ill ever hear a fist full of dollars the same. My record will see the light of day soon and I’m excited because it sounds nothing like my previous endeavors. And no I’m not joking about any of this, I owe it 2 u guys to all fans to be serious about this.

Thank u to all past members who helped Volta along as well. we blasted through like a comet and left our mark! If u ever see me in person and want to know why I’ll tell u my story. Please just be happy that it happened at all remember all the opposition we were met with for just starting a new band back in 2001.

He flipado cuando he leído todo esto esta mañana. He pensado en tí, Slovako, y otro amigo mío ultra-super-mega-fan. Se acabó la historia de la banda más extraordinaria de los últimos tiempos

Deloused in The Comatorium sonando en mi casa ahora mismo en su honor

Yo diría que la más grande desde el estallido grunge.

Pero estoy flipando, y creo que ahora mismo (igual mañana cambio de opinión) me pongo más del lado de Omar.

Lo de twitter me parece un calentón del momento, no me parecen maneras y me parece que se pasa con los darditos a Omar (con lo de Bosnian Rainbows y lo de At The Drive In básicamente). Era una dictadura, pero eso ya lo sabía hace 10 años. Omar tiene sus proyectos, igual que Cedric los suyos, sin ir más lejos el cojonudo disco de Anywhere el año pasado y su disco en solitario este). Es decir, ¿lanzas la piedra al proyecto de Omar mientras tú estás grabando con tus amigotes tu debut en solitario? ¿Acaso no es la misma mierda?

Además, se indgna con el poco apoyo a Noctourniquet, que tiene razón, pero estaría bien recordar que fue el propio Cedric el que estuvo cerca de tres años para escribir las letras. Por esa regla de tres, sería Omar el que tendría que mandar a la mierda todo, porque Noctourniquet es un disco que tendría que estar en la calle a finales de 2009 principios de 2010.

Y puede ser que de ahí venga toda esta decadencia. Omar se aburría presentando Nocto en pleno 2012. No hay más, y así lo dejó claro en las entrevistas que ha concedido durante el año pasado, que le resultaba dificil hablar de un disco que había creado hacía tres años, que entre medias había grabado 15 discos más.

Y es que como dicen en el foro oficial, sí que ha tardado en abrir los ojos Omar es el mismo que hace 10 años, siempre cambiando y probando nuevas cosas. Si por él fuera tendríamos en la calle 12 discos de TMV y no 6. Hay que reconocer que toda esa milonga de que iba a ser más democrático no se la cree ni el, para muestra lo de Bosnian Rainbows, que las labores compositivas deben repartirse entre Omar y Parks al 90% y 10% respectivamente.

No sé, es una pena que acaben así, a malas, y esos tweets quedan ahí como una herida abierta, por mucho buen rollo que tengan mañana o dentro de 3 años, ya nada volverá a ser igual.

Por mi parte sólo me queda darles las gracias por esos discos que quedarán en el archivo hasta el fin de los días y por los maravillosos conciertos que me brindaron. Ahora es tiempo para nuevos proyectos, y seguro que algo bueno saldrá de todo esto, pero aún así me resultará extraño hablar de Mars Volta en pasado, eso sí, siempre esbozando una sonrisa.
