No digo que sean discos malos, ni nada...pero me da una pena ver arriba del todo a Sabbath, Lemmy, Saxon o Deep Purple. ¿Relevo generacional? ¿Where are you?

Me ha llamado mucho la atención, a mí me parece un disco muy bueno y, desde luego, bastante mejor que otros que sí aparecen.

No digo que sean discos malos, ni nada...pero me da una pena ver arriba del todo a Sabbath, Lemmy, Saxon o Deep Purple. ¿Relevo generacional? ¿Where are you?

Classic Rock es una excelente revista pero también tiene sus cosas, sus filias y fobias y, como el resto de prensa inglesa, barre mucho para casa y a veces les coge la perra con grupos que no son nada del otro mundo pero aparecen en portada mes sí, mes también, como Joe Bonamassa o los Rival Sons, imagino que por algún tipo de interés comercial. Normalmente suelen puntuar muy bien a los artistas veteranos que, aunque hagan discos discretos, suelen estar arriba en el top, yo tenía muy claro que este año el Top 1 iba a ser para los Sabbath.

De todas maneras suelen tratar bien a las bandas noveles, aparecen algunas en el top: Temperance, Virginmarys, Purson, Scorpion Child, Strypes, o los Graveltones (en el puesto 26) un dúo estilo White Stripes pero hardrockeros que suenan de puta madre. Otra cosa es que no haya relevo generacional suficiente, que también.

De todas maneras hay cosas que no entiendo: el disco de los Strypes lo puntuaron fatal en su día, creo que le pusieron un 4 o 5 sobre 10 y los tachaban de copiones y revivalistas (?) y en cambio son top 14, igual le tocó hacer la crítica al redactor más cabrón. O la ya comentada ausencia de Casablanca o las de Michael Monroe o Riverside, que han sacado muy buenos discos y en cambio no aparecen.

Es francamente bueno, posiblemente esté en mi top 10, está ahí, luchando. Y el de Black Sabbath lo encuentro discreto y desde luego en mi opinión no es de Top 1.

Esa lista es puramente comercial, los de arriba (exceptuando Clutch) están ahí por nombre, pero no por la calidad de sus trabajos. Hay otras bandas consagradas también como Alice In Chains o Monster Magnet que están muy abajo.

Black Sabbath o Queens Of The Stone Age entre los 10 primeros?? Es para partirse los bajos, el primero buen regreso y punto, si merece estar en la lista es para estar mucho más abajo y Queens Of The Stone Age ha sido uno de los fiascos del año, si yo comparo su "... Like Clockwork" como "Rated R" la diferencia es abismal.

Hay un discazo este año como el de Wolf People que está en el 43, surrealista. Ese pedazo de obra si es para estar entre los 10 primeros. Por lo demás aciertos con los de Monster Truck, uno de los mejores debut del año y también los de Clutch y Motörhead, sendos discazos!!

No digo que sean discos malos, ni nada...pero me da una pena ver arriba del todo a Sabbath, Lemmy, Saxon o Deep Purple. ¿Relevo generacional? ¿Where are you?
Classic Rock es una excelente revista pero también tiene sus cosas, sus filias y fobias y, como el resto de prensa inglesa, barre mucho para casa y a veces les coge la perra con grupos que no son nada del otro mundo pero aparecen en portada mes sí, mes también, como Joe Bonamassa o los Rival Sons, imagino que por algún tipo de interés comercial. Normalmente suelen puntuar muy bien a los artistas veteranos que, aunque hagan discos discretos, suelen estar arriba en el top, yo tenía muy claro que este año el Top 1 iba a ser para los Sabbath.

De todas maneras suelen tratar bien a las bandas noveles, aparecen algunas en el top: Temperance, Virginmarys, Purson, Scorpion Child, Strypes, o los Graveltones (en el puesto 26) un dúo estilo White Stripes pero hardrockeros que suenan de puta madre. Otra cosa es que no haya relevo generacional suficiente, que también.

De todas maneras hay cosas que no entiendo: el disco de los Strypes lo puntuaron fatal en su día, creo que le pusieron un 4 o 5 sobre 10 y los tachaban de copiones y revivalistas (?) y en cambio son top 14, igual le tocó hacer la crítica al redactor más cabrón. O la ya comentada ausencia de Casablanca o las de Michael Monroe o Riverside, que han sacado muy buenos discos y en cambio no aparecen.

¿Salen Zodiac? ¿Kvelertak? ¿Audrey Horne? ¿Ghost?

No sé, se les va demasiado con el rollo anglocéntrico. Diría que han metido a Free Fall por la conexión TSOL, que eran una banda muy consolidada, que si no... Que está muy bien que apoyen a The Temperance Movement o Rival Sons, pero a veces da la impresión de que sienten cierto desdén hacia las bandas escandinavas o europeas. Que no estén entre los mejores del año, en una publicación tan afín musical y culturalmente, Casablanca y Michael Monroe clama al cielo.

Ninguna de las bandas que mencionas aparece en el Top 50. Esto de las listas al final nunca deja contento a nadie aunque en este caso, como bien comentas, se les ve el plumero anglocéntrico.

Me chirría especialmente el noveno puesto de Gary Clark, que me parece un artista muy interesante pero que ha sacado un disco blandito, en un estilo de Blues FM rollo Robert Cray que no pega mucho con la línea de la revista y, para mi gusto, es inferior a trabajos anteriores.

El de Black Star Riders en el 11 también me chirría, no es mal disco pero desde luego ni de coña es mejor que el de Audrey Horne, Zodiac o Casablanca.

Yo creo que su criterio es repartir el top entre discos incontestables (el caso de Clutch), veteranos prestigiosos que han sacado nuevo disco y bandas inglesas más o menos noveles que necesitan apoyo. Después del reparto ya no queda mucho...

Creo que un problema que tienen es una cierta dispersión estilística (Prog, AOR, Country, Blues) que hace que quieran abarcar demasiado, que ya me parece bien, pero que al final provoca que se queden cortos. Tendrían que hacer un top 100 Laughing
