No ha hecho falta ni salir a la carretera para que Scott Weiland deje el que parecía su último proyecto, Art Of Anarchy. Ayerse hablaba del grupo en los medios y hoy, inesperadamente (aunque estando Weiland involucrado uno debería estar curado de espantos) el vocalista hacía saber que si bien si se encargó de cantar en los temas del que será el debut de la banda, no saldrá de gira con ella.

Acabo de ver un comunicado de prensa sobre un proyecto paralelo llamado art of anarchy en el que trabajé el año pasado – escribí y puse mi voz para esos tíos y lo pasé bien haciendo un par de vídeos, lo pasamos todos muy bien. Cuando encuentren a su frontman para salir a la carretera y hacer algunos conciertos, id a echarles un vistazo. Mientras tanto, si queréis echar un vistazo donde estoy AHORA MISMO, echad un vistazo a mi nueva banda, SCOTT WEILAND AND THE WILDABOUTS. No podría estar más emocionado por el nuevo disco, Blaster, que sale el 31 de marzo. Nos podéis ver en la carretera a partir de febrero y en Sundance la semana que viene y en el SXSW en marzo.

In an exclusive statement to Rolling Stone, Thal wrote that "ART OF ANARCHY is not competition or a threat or interference to what any of us are doing — it's a complement, an addition, one I'm proud of creatively."

He continued: "[There is] no need to minimize or undermine or devalue a project we all worked on together over the course of two years.

"I enjoyed working with Scott. And I'm looking forward to [the SCOTT WEILAND AND] THE WILDABOUTS album release, the Bumblefoot album release, and the ART OF ANARCHY album release. The more music the better, it's what we do, right? Artists do collaborations and a month later, their own album comes out. This is normal stuff. All good. "

Thal added: "The five of us made an album together. Scott is currently the singer of the band. It's in writing; no confusion. But yes, Scott's solo album and tour are his priority and we're all on the same page about getting another vocalist if ART OF ANARCHY hits the road. But we don't need to cross that bridge just yet. Taking everything as it comes, one step at a time, letting it evolve organically. Where it goes from here (and with who!) is yet to be seen."

Cualquier día la noticia acerca suya es su muerte.

Hace unos días se hacía público un nuevo proyecto en el que juntan su talento Scott Weiland, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal y John Moyer (Disturbed). Al día siguiente, sin embargo, Weiland, se descolgaba con unas declaraciones en las que aseguraba no tener intención de salir de gira con el grupo.

Ahora, a través de un comunicado remitido a la Rolling Stone, Bumblefoot ha querido explicar:

Art Of Anarchy no es una competencia o amenaza o interferencia para nada de lo que alguno de nosotros está haciendo – es un complemento, una adición de la que estoy orgulloso creativamente. No hay necesidad de minimizar o socavar o devaluar un proyecto en el que todos hemos trabajado juntos a lo largo de dos años. He disfrutado trabajando con Scott. Estoy con ganas del lanzamiento de los Wildabouts, del álbum de Bumblefoot y del álbum de Art Of Anarchy. Mientras más música, mejor, es lo que hacemos, ¿no es verdad? Los artistas hacen colaboraciones y un mes después sale su propio álbum. Esto es algo normal. Todo bien

Los cinco hicimos un álbum juntos. Scott es actualmente el cantante de la banda. Está en la composición; no hay confusión. Pero si, el álbum en solitario de Scott y la gira son su prioridad y estamos todos de acuerdo en lo de coger a otro vocalista si Art Of Anarchy sale de gira. Pero aún no tenemos necesidad de cruzar ese puente. Tomamos todo como viene, paso a paso, dejando que evolucione orgánicamente. Lo que ocurre desde aquí (y con quien) ya se verá.

Scott Weiland says that he was never a member of ART OF ANARCHY despite the fact that he recorded a debut album with the supergroup, and says that his main focus is his solo band THE WILDABOUTS.

"I was never in [ART OF ANARCHY]," the former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER singer told Billboard.com. "It was something I did when I wasn't doing anything. I was asked to write some lyrics and sing some melodies on this project, but it's not a band I'm in. This is my band," he added, nodding to SCOTT WEILAND AND THE WILDABOUTS.

Yo creo que se les va la mano con la duración, pero sí, tiene temas muy buenos y es disfrutable en general.

La canción no está mal gracias a Scott. El grupo es de 3ª division y el video lamentable. Aun así lo escucharé con ganas, los nuevos discos de Weiland y ojo! Bumblefoot en solitario están muy bien.

La canción se deja escuchar, no te lleva a quitarla, la dejas acabar, pero no dan ganas de volverla a poner.

q pedazo de mierda. Como el disco sea esto me temo lo peor. Lo q no entiendo es pq Weiland hace un videoclip con la banda cuando no queria ni q el disco saliera publicado, ni q nadie lo compre ni salir de gira con ellos?

El disco mejor de lo esperado, que no es mucho decir en un grupo que apesta a marketing.
Evidentemente hay mas sombras que luces : piloto automático to the max ,tufazo a Velvet Revolver y la base rítmica de los hermanos estos que han fundado el grupo es de parbulario, aún así hay tres o cuatro temas que no estan mal y algunos destellos de calidad de Weyland y Bumblefoot salvan el partido y les dan el aprobado raspado.
Interesante ver a Bumblefoot amoldarse a una banda y dejar de lado sus discos de demente, parece que aparte de buen guitarrista es buen arreglista y cuando se deja de hacer el payaso da algunos buenos momentos,

Me acabo de dar cuenta que al final no escuché mas que el primer single y veo que ha pasado muy desapercibido.

Pues le he dado un par de vueltas y no me parece tan mediocre. Me sorprende que Caputo lo ponga tan mal cuando se traga discos peores  

De entrada Get on down es de lo mejor que ha hecho Weiland estos últimos años. Una balada redonda.  Es incomprensible como no han promocionado el disco con ella y que ni siquiera se pueda escuchar online fácilmente.

Con este proyecto es altamente probable que hubiese tenido mas éxito que con Blaster. Tiene el rollo de unos Velvet Revolver metalizados y post-grungerizados sin ser vergonzante. Además Weiland sostiene el disco en todo momento con su versatilidad.

El punto comercial y poco arriesgado es lo que lo jode.

The album kicks off with a short instrumental called “Black Rain” (not a Soundgarden cover) which has a Mexican Spaghetti Western feel. “Small Batch Whiskey” sounds a lot like Velvet Revolver, a lot of the album feels like melodies Weiland would have used on a third Velvet Revolver album. The track shows some promise, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but Bumblefoot and Weiland have some chemistry here.

“Time Everytime” is the first ‘Scöttley Crüe’ moment of the album. The drumming is cheesy, and feels way too dated. Weiland has some good melodic moments again here, but his lyrics and delivery of the ‘every time’ refrain are cheesy. The song also gets repetitive near the end.

“Get On Down” is the first song on the album that lacks any discernible cheese, and it’s a solid effort. Weiland sounds inspired on this power ballad, delivering a cinematic chorus. It sounds a bit like “You Got No Right” off of Contraband.

“Grand Applause” is generic cock rock. The riff is lame and Weiland’s vocals sound phoned in, especially during the verses: ‘If it comes to mind/a catfight.’

“Til The Dust Is Gone” has a very catchy chorus and riff, but the lyrics are uninspired: ‘Things have changed/they made us strange.’ The whole thing sounds a bit too much like Creed. The instrumental arrangement is also hodgepodged, with the transition from the first chorus to the second verse sounding like the introduction to a new song.  This song could have been good with better lyrics and a better arrangement, but the cheese is just too much.

“Death Of It” is one of the best songs on the album. It sounds like a modern hard rock radio song you’d hear on a station with stuff like Stone Sour, outside of Weiland’s alternative rock wheelhouse, but it works and is a clear cut radio single. There are elements of 2000’s emo music as well.

“Superstar” is the worst song Scott Weiland has ever recorded. Weiland sings, ‘Wanna be a superstar/Then just reach out and grab it.’ There’s a really cringeworthy breakdown with a corny riff where Weiland sings ‘Superstar’ repeatedly.

“Aqualung” sounds like a 2000’s Vans Warped Tour band type song. The song has some catchy elements, but the lyrics aren’t good: ‘On and on I sing this song/trying to listen to the music.’  The chorus ‘Please take my life’ also feels a bit too on the nose for a legendary singer like Weiland, and it isn’t delivered with the same conviction of a line like ‘Kill me/thrill me’ on 12 Bar Blues‘ “Cool Kiss.”

On “Long Ago” Weiland sounds a bit like Axl Rose, the song actually reminds me a lot of Chinese Democracy. The melody is kind of catchy, but the verse is actually catchier than the chorus.

“The Drift” is the best song on the album. The riff is a Grunge metal hybrid, and Weiland seamlessly slips back into his Core and Contraband voice.

Overall the album is a mixed bag. Some of it is surprisingly good, other parts are facepalm worthy god awful. It seems like an album where if Scott Weiland had actually immersed himself in the band rather than just cashing the check, and put more into the lyrics and pulled the instrumentalists back from some of their more cheesy metal leanings, it actually could have been something really good. It’s surprising that Weiland didn’t commit more to the band, because there are a few songs here with far more radio potential than anything off of Blaster, and a songwriting partnership with a talented guitarist like Bumblefoot could have a lot of promise.  Art of Anarchy also seem to have a far better organization behind them, in terms of management and production capabilities, than Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts.

The production and mix is fantastic, especially Weiland’s vocals and Bumblefoot’s guitar. The drumming though sounds really corny at times.  It’s the best Weiland has sounded on an album vocally/production wise since Velvet Revolver’s Contraband over a decade ago. The production on Weiland’s solo album Blaster this year was so amateur that you could barely hear his voice sometimes on otherwise good songs. Blaster‘s tracks feature better lyrics, but poor vocal delivery and production. Something like “The Drift” just completely blows away “Bleed Out” when it comes to hard rockers on Art of Anarchy and Blaster.

Here’s a review of the songs, rather than a score. ‘Meh’ means I thought it was alright.

Creed frontman Scott Stapp has confirmed in a new Facebook post that he is the new singer for Art of Anarchy, replacing Scott Weiland. He also said that Weiland is ‘irreplaceable’ in Stone Temple Pilots, ripping the band for moving on without him.
“What’s up, Stapp here, I wanted to clarify any confusions on STP and my comment. First off, Scott Weiland in STP is irreplaceable. I was recently asked what I’m currently working on in an interview and could not reveal details or announce this new project. This led the interviewer to assume it was STP and he eagerly kept asking for more details. Evidently my response caused confusion.

I’m excited to share I’ve been working with Art Of Anarchy band whose members are Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, formerly of Guns N Roses, John Moyer of Disturbed and Jon and Vince Votta. Original announcement was slated for July along with our first single and album to follow but happy to share this announcement sooner to clarify.

Art Of Anarchy is the project that I was referring to in the interview not STP. Scott Weiland was a part of Art of Anarchy and that’s the six degrees of separation I was referring to. Always been a fan of STP and I wish them all the best in their search for a new singer.

El que lleva el perfil de Instagram de esta banda (¿será algún miembro?), acaba poner un comentario positivo en un dibujo mío viejo que colgué hace tiempo... una cosa infantil que hice para un colegio, jajaja. Qué absurdo todo.

Parece q el grupo ha demandado a Scott Stapp por no querer girar con ellos (creo q dieron solo unos 20 conciertos) y le reclaman 1.200.000 $ . Parece ser q le pagaron 200.000 $ a Scott y el no ha cumplido con el contrato. Solo dieron 19 conciertos y no fue al rodaje de un videoclip q tenian previsto. Lo d este grupo es mala suerte. Primero Weiland q echo mierda sobre el grupo diciendo q solo lo habia hecho por dinero y q su implicacion en el disco habia sido minima. Ahora Scott Stapp q parecia estar encantado con estar en una banda de nuevo, q decia estar muy agradecido por la oportunidad y ademas parecia curado de sus problemas mentales y de sus problemas con las drogas.
