The Slider (T-Rex) vs Ziggy Stardust (Bowie): ¿Cuál es mejor?

Jo. Pues no me he puesto mis tres favoritas del tirón y me he echado a llorar como una magdalena.

Os digo que este disco tiene algo muy especial, algo totalmente único. Es una combinación perfecta de dulzura, melancolía, tristeza y amor. Fragilidad absoluta, sensualidad, es una caricia en el alma. Un bálsamo.

Fíjate en la diferencia con el Electric Warrior. Para empezar en los títulos, de Warrior a Slider hay una diferencia clara. Ni siquiera sabes bien qué es un slider, es algo ambiguo, ¿sexual? ¿simplemente juguetón e infantil? ¿algo referente a la magia, a cambiar de realidad? ("cuando estoy triste / me deslizo")

Fíjate en la foto. No es una silueta con guitarra y ampli en plan poderoso y omnipotente Dios del Rock, es lo contrario, una mirada directa a cámara, aquí estoy y te miro directamente al alma. "Andrógino y vulnerable", como lo definen por ahí. En un blanco y negro precioso, etéreo, fundido con la luz (ese pelo que se 'pierde'). Como un ángel. Ese sombrero de mago o de sombrerero loco. Y ese rojo sangre. Perfección.
La foto parece que es de Toni Visconti y no de Ringo. Aquí lo explican muy bien, y mira, la última línea parece dedicada a ti, DumDum, y tu teoría "todo en el universo es susceptible de ser rápidamente relacionado con G'N'R":

T. Rex producer Tony Visconti remembers that he took the photo with Bolan's ever-present Nikon one misty day on John Lennon's estate, Ascot, during the filming of Ringo Starr's T. Rex documentary, Born to Boogie; the photo, however, is credited to Starr on the album. "Marc was always an opportunist and would name-drop whenever he could," says Visconti. "I don't want to denigrate him as the great rock star that he was, but this is one one of the times that he tried to rewrite history. He used to be really bitchy about me getting credited too much.

"I think the top hat was an allusion he always made to being a magician," says Visconti. "Marc told me that he lived in Paris for six months when he was a male model with a French wizard." But Bolan, as the Mad Hatter, wore the same hat in the mad-tea-party scene of Born to Boogie, shot the same day.

Bolan tragically died in a 1977 car crash, but his music lives on, as does his look -- the stovepipe hat and the curtain of ringleted hair have not gone unnoticed by a fellow named Slash.

Me encantan todas las canciones. Es un disco de 'hit after hit', no hay una floja.

Pero entre mis tres favoritas también estaría Ballrooms of Mars, ese "You're talking 'bout day / I'm talking 'bout night time" siempre me ha derretido. Qué voz.

Adoro Spaceball Ricochet, siempre pienso que es mi favorita, sería la primera en venirme a la cabeza.

Tocado por los putos ángeles estaba en este disco. Es algo inverosímil la belleza que emana.

Pero a pachas con Spaceball, mi favorita siempre sería Main Man. El final perfecto para el disco. Ese coro y la forma en que juega con el fraseo de las estrofas para darle variedad... Me estremece.

Cabrones. No os lo perdonaré jamás.

Exacto eso es The Slider, el boogie melancólico, bailar solo en el escenario.
La foto de Ringo Visconti fantasmagorica... Nada mejor para ilustrar el contenido.
Noche vieja brindando al vacío.
Lo que transmite Bolan en ese sentido es brutal porque ademas se percibe genuino, a yo al menos asi lo siento.
Me parece que el tipo fue un poco asi y ese aura de juguete roto lo impregna todo.
Pronto la frustracion y se impondria al talento, pero The Slider es magia pura que sale por esa chistera de otro tiempo y de otro espacio.

Luego me acuerdo de Cosmic Dancer y me olvido de todo lo demas, hasta de David Bowie, pero eso es otro cantar.

Es que Cosmic Dancer es el precedente directo del espíritu de The Slider. Maravillosa canción.

Me gusta el The Slider de T. Rex pero para mi, o mejor dicho, para mis gustos musicales no tiene comparación con el Ziggy Stardust de Bowie. The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars es uno de mis discos de cabecera. Uno de mis favoritos de toda mi vida y eso que soy más Heavy que una lluvia de hachas.
Me pasa lo mismo con The Wall de Pink Floyd. No se que tienen estos dos discos que me gustan más que muchos de Iron Maiden, Metallica o Judas Priest.
