LANEGAN & DULLI reparten clase y amor

Lo de Jeffrey Lee Pierce era algo pendiente que tenia, ya que eran bastante amigos y una de sus grandes influencias, pero no creo que pase de disco y alguna actuacion en LA; Lo que realmente espero es que su nuevo disco este ya en el horno y si luego nos regala canciones de los Trees en gira pues firmo ya mismo.

En cuanto a Dulli espero que para el nuevo album se desmarque un poco de la clasica y excentrica produccion estilo Twilight, y nos regale joyas coma la reciente You was for real, que realmente le quedo muy bien.

Me parece que esa conversion directamente no se puede hacer, primero debes pasarla a Wav con Flac fronted por ejemplo...

I was honored to take part in a benefit concert for Gutter Twins bassist Scott Ford at the Roxy Theater. He, like many of my musical brethren, goes through life without basic health insurance. Along with the other necessities like rent, food, and schooling for his child, the weight of his financial burden has caused some wobbling in a few places. Scott got very sick this year, and was forced to take out a loan to pay for the first in a long series of surgeries that will hopefully get him better. Like me, Scott has a 12-year-old daughter, and has a lot to live for. He is one of the good guys.

The show featured a wide range of über-talented musicians, and was a blast to be a part of. Among the highlights was watching Greg Dulli and Wayne Kramer do the Stooges’ “Down on the Street” and AC/DC’s “Hell’s Bells,” and Deep Purple alum Glenn Hughes doing “All Right Now” by Free. Fans and friends filled the venue that night, and I am continuously delighted by how generous people can be when they see that someone needs help. Rock fans are the most generous I have ever seen.

The Evolution of Shadows began in 2000 as a two-part short story called “Curse Softly To Me” that I wrote while obsessively listening to The Afghan Whigs song “My Curse” and trying to shed a crush I had on a Korean American girl named Callie.

In today’s Book Notes at Largehearted Boy, author Jason Quinn Malott discusses his new book, The Evolution of Shadows, and the role the Afghan Whigs played in its creation.

The Evolution of Shadows began in 2000 as a two-part short story called “Curse Softly To Me” that I wrote while obsessively listening to The Afghan Whigs song “My Curse” and trying to shed a crush I had on a Korean American girl named Callie.

This became the theme song once the story expanded and incorporated the Bosnia storyline. Instrumentals are great writing songs for me because I can slip into the right mood and the images that play out in my mind aren’t cluttered by the images evoked by a singer’s lyrics.

The song that started it all. Marcy Mays’ voice owns this song. I’ve heard other versions the Whigs performed lived with other women, but none better than this original (and if you can find the live version at the Reading Festival, it’ll knock you down like a prize fighter’s best punch).

The newest track from Soulsavers, 'Unbalanced Pieces,' is a dark and almost brooding soundscape that chugs and lugs through near industrial territory on its path of downtempo electronica. The music was all but made for a David Lynch flick. Thus, when the band met with director Hiro Murai, guess which direction they decided upon for the video?

"The initial concept for 'Unbalanced Pieces' came from a conversation I had with the band over our shared love for David Lynch," Murai admits to Spinner. "Especially his off-putting ambiguity and uncanny portrayal of a dystopian suburbia."

To put their own spin on dystopia, they drove east of Los Angeles to Rancho Cucamonga to shoot a series of still photographs. Murai explains that they then projected the images "inside a dark studio to give us a surreal sense of space and atmosphere." Watch 'Unbalanced Pieces' after the jump.

El vigués Ucantdothattome pone la banda sonora al primer libro de horror hispano

Tras el extraño nombre de Ucantdothattome se encuentra Juan C. Rial. Este músico vigués ha puesto la banda sonora al libro Imperfecta simetría (Círculo Rojo, 2009), de Rafa Rubio y el vigués Darío Vilas. La idea surgió de este último. «En los relatos del libro hay influencias de la música del australiano Mark Lanegan WTF?? , así que le pedí a Juan si podía hacer alguna versión de este compositor para tocar en la presentación de la segunda edición del libro», explica Darío Vilas. El resultado fue más allá de los solicitado por el autor. Juan C. Rial no solo presentó dos excelentes versiones sino que compuso dos temas más que no desmerecen la música del australiano.

La idea inicial era realizar dos versiones que canta Mark Lanegan. «Elegimos One Way Street porque había inspirado algún relato de Darío, y Long Gone Day , original de Mad Season, y cantada por Mark Lanegan y Layne Staley, de Alice in Chains», añade el músico. En este último tema, Darío Vilas aportó la voz principal.

Juan aún quiso ir más allá y compuso dos canciones más para ser presentadas en la presentación de la segunda edición de Imperfecta simetría . El resultado es el nacimiento de Beatiful Little Fool , y Say Goodbye . La calidad de las canciones es notable y da una idea del potencial compositor e interpretativo de este joven músico vigués.

Las canciones de esta banda sonora no se grabaron para su comercialización. Cualquier las puede descargar gratuitamente desde las dirección de Internet www.ucantdothattome.com y www.ucantdothattome.com/imperfecta.htm. «La mezcla final espero hacerla antes de diciembre; estará más perfeccionada y espero editar en un digipack, no para comercializar sino para emplearla como regalo para amigos», explica Juan C Rial.

El músico estudia la realización de un proyecto con una amiga que hace poesías, aunque todavía está en fase inicial de valoración.

Olvidados los escenarios, salvo su aparición en la presentación del libro Simetría imperfecta, Juan C. Rial vuelca todo su ambición compositora en Internet para que sea degustada por quienes acuden a la música anónima por el placer de escuchar a artistas nuevos. La presentación del libro fue aprovechada para mostrar la portada del segundo número del fanzine Horror Hispano . La editorial Círculo Rojo se hace cargo de su edición y puesta a la venta.

Hilvanando llegamos a 1988, el año de Invisible Lantern, disco un poco mas conocido por este foro y que marcaria la pauta de que lo mejor estaba por llegar. La voz de Mark Lanegan ya comienza a ser ese poderoso chorro capaz de envolverte como un torbellino y el grupo funciona a la perfección incluso cuando se mira en los 70s más duros. Lines & Circles es como Alice In Chains rebajandos y el ejemplo de que, por fin, por fin, la producción realza los juegos de unas guitarras incapaces de quedarse quietas. Todo Invisible Lantern apuesta por abrir foco, hasta dar con una especie de gran angular del indie-hardrock: punkies en She Knows, un pre-Whiskey and... como es Grey Diamond Desert, ácidos en Shadow Song, y sobre todo en la inicial Ivy con una línea de guitarra que hiela la sangre junto la base rítmica de su hermano Van y el batería Mark Pickerel sólida como una roca. … Screaming Trees comienzaban a subir los escalones de tres en tres, pero corrian el peligro de tropezarse...
