Recomendaciones?

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC
- abrir:
- "A veritable Clash of the Titans of English Pop music… a musical meeting of minds to rival King Kong Vs. Godzilla but, sadly, with no Ishirō Honda to chronicle an event of such magnitude and, with both participants being English, the actual meeting was less the cause of earthquakes and tsunamis, more a case of…
…Tea and a chat, followed by some – typically for both - fine pop song writing, recording, mixing, a celebratory glass of wine and a trip to a restaurant for a curry and a pint of beer… all traditions as English in their longevity as the day they arrived on these shores from somewhere else…
“Right now I weigh more than Andy on account of the cheese. He feeds me cheese when I go round there, which is comforting. I only really get in fights with myself, which I always lose”- Robyn
"Rather than these two big planets and their similar odd gravities repulsing each other, as might be anticipated. I can cheerfully tell you that it's been one rather beautiful crashing creative event. ...that I want to repeat. Feels like being in a group again." (no dinosaurs were harmed during the making of this EP). – Andy
“Andy and I are the same age and suffer from the same record collection, especially the B’s: Barrett, Beatles, Beefheart. He’s a Scorpio and I’m Pisces, so we’re the same astrological team as Richard Burton and Liz Taylor, except neither of us is Welsh, sadly.” - Robyn
English (and British popular music generally) has consistently proved capable of absorbing, refreshing, renewing and placing a distinctive twist on a melange of sounds and influences from almost anywhere in the world while managing to preserve, in many cases, a distinctly local, but not parochial, flavour.
"Robyn's fierce inventiveness is a joy to work with. Like bathing in the sparks from some surreal angle grinder." – Andy
“Andy is the only person that I can easily write songs with. They simply appear, as if we were at a seance. He’s perhaps more logical than me, but it’s not really a contest, is it? A lot of song-writing is solving a puzzle that you’ve set for yourself; I really enjoy going round to his place in Swindon and puzzling with him. I live just up the road, in Nashville...”

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC
https://burningshed.com/store/ape/xtc-as-the-dukes-of-stratosphear_psurroundabout-ride_cd_blu-ray
"Psurroundabout Ride gathers all of the Dukes’ material on a CD/Blu-Ray set, with both of the band’s albums (plus 2 extra tracks) remixed in stereo and 5.1 surround by Steven Wilson (approved by Andy Partridge).
Produced by John Leckie (Swami Anand Nagara) and The Dukes.
---------
* Both albums + 2 extra tracks mixed in 5.1 surround by Steven Wilson on Blu-Ray (with a final song up-mixed to surround using the Penteo audio system)
* All 19 songs in their original mixes in hi-res stereo (Blu-Ray) (el EP + el LP + 3 temas extra, que probablemente serán "Open a can of human beans", "TIn toy Clockwork train" y "Black Jewelled Serpent of Sound".
* Complete demos from both albums & instrumental versions of album songs also feature in hi-res stereo on the Blu-Ray (demos que en algunos casos eran "nuevas", las hicieron desde cero para la edición especial de hace unos años)

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC
https://burningshed.com/store/ape/artists-ape/andy-partridge/andy-partridge_cavegirl_free-download
" Cavegirl is Andy Partridge's demo for a song from the aborted bubblegum sampler album, 12 The Flavors Of Hercules, a release that would have claimed to be a 'best of' the mythical American bubblegum label, Hercules. The finished recording would have been attributed to the non existent group The Candy Coat Hook. The 11 other bands/artists would have all had different names."

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC

We are sorry to inform you of a security breach here at Burning Shed that has resulted in the unauthorised disclosure of your personal data. We felt it was important to let you know this as soon as we were able to confirm it.
If you have used the same password you used on burningshed.com anywhere else, please change it immediately.
The breach was discovered on Friday 17th April 2020 and is likely to have taken place on the 18th December 2018.
A hacker managed to download a section of our customer database. This consisted of some email addresses, plus the encrypted passwords for those email addresses. Our IT experts do not believe that postal addresses or any other information was accessed. However, we know that the hackers did decrypt some of the account passwords. It is possible that your password was decrypted.
We can however guarantee that no payment information of any kind was compromised as part of this breach. We do not hold any of your credit card or PayPal details on our database. They have not been compromised. You do NOT need to cancel your credit card or PayPal account.
We have taken the following steps to mitigate any adverse effects:
1) On Friday 17th April we engaged a top expert who specialises in data security and they are fixing the problem that caused this breach
2) Together with the security expert we have carried out a full security review and made changes to the website to secure your data for the future. This will include strengthening the way passwords are encrypted, moving all data to a new host (as a precaution)
3) We have taken the Burning Shed site offline for maintenance in order to complete the security updates. This means that we will not be taking any orders for approximately 48 hours as of today and you will need to change your password when this is complete.
4) When the website re-opens all account passwords will be re-set and we will tell you how to log in so that you can change your password to something new. Please do not re-use your old password.
Once this immediate work is completed and the site is brought back up, Burning Shed will be conducting significant additional follow-up work to ensure the system remains secure in the long-term.
If you want more information about this breach please do not hesitate to contact me: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Once again, we are very sorry that this has happened. We informed the Information Commissioner's Office on the 20th of April 2020 and will comply with whatever recommendations they might make.
We hope that this will not stop you from continuing to support us and the artists/labels we work with.

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC
"A 2020 double 200g vinyl reissue of XTC's masterpiece from 1989.
Oranges And Lemons is the eighth in a series of XTC Classics to be issued on a 200 gram vinyl edition.
Mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering with input from Andy Partridge and fully approved by XTC.
This is one of the most requested vinyl reissues in the XTC catalogues as it was only available for a short period towards the end of the first vinyl era.
The sleeve has been re-worked to present the front colour image in all its psychedelic glory - and expanded to a gatefold to accommodate both the weight of the vinyl & the inclusion of song lyrics.
All copies sold through Burning Shed come with an exclusive postcard (while stocks last)."

Re: SKYLARKING: THE XTC TOPIC
https://burningshed.com/artists-ape/xtc/xtc_nonsuch_double-vinyl
Nonsuch is the ninth in a series of XTC classics to be issued on 200g vinyl.
The album has been mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering with input from Andy Partridge and is fully approved by XTC.
One of XTC's most sophisticated and mature works, 1992's Nonsuch was the last of the band's albums for Virgin Records (and was followed by a decade of silence). The album was only on vinyl for a short period towards the end of the first vinyl era and was, as a result, never available as a decent quality pressing. It was also poorly presented in a single sleeve.
On this 2020 version, the sleeve has been restored to its original quality with the gold coloured overlay - and expanded to a gatefold to accommodate both the weight of the vinyl and the inclusion of song lyrics.

- My Failed Songwriting Career - Volume 1 presents a fascinating selection of songs resulting from Andy Partridge’s post XTC period as a songwriter for hire writing for other artists.
‘Four brothers and sisters, happily reunited and presented as a family group aural snapshot for your entertainment and delight.’ - Andy Partridge
12" vinyl EP / cd
---------
Twang, Hmmm, click, thunk.
When XTC finally downed guitars after the recording and release of “Wasp Star”, their last album to date, one of Andy’s ideas about what to do next, was to become a songwriter in the traditional sense, writing songs for others…
It was something he had been asked to do throughout the XTC years, but never had the time.
Songs were written. Songs were sent. Sometimes speculatively, often specifically requested, many tailor-made for an artist's requirements, but then choppy waters could still lay ahead. Even where everyone seemed to think that newly written song A would be wonderful if recorded by singer B, whose manager C had initiated the request via music publisher D for album E on record label F…
Well, you begin to see the potential problems of such an approach – almost a quarter of the way through the alphabet and not a note recorded beyond Andy's original demo. That’s without detailing the sort of horrendous politics that makes a fresh batch of alphabet spaghetti of any of the above as they interact.
Still, songs are like children. A songwriter gives birth to them, feeds them, watches them grow before sending them out into the world. So it’s unfair to abandon them as orphans just because their first experience outdoors might be a traumatic one of being cold shouldered.
As a loving parent, Andy brought them all back together, re-Andy-fied them and buffed them up in his home studio, et voila! Here is the first selection of song siblings that resulted from all of this work, four brothers and sisters, happily reunited and presented as a family group aural snapshot for your entertainment and delight.
