Beck, Josh Homme, Mark Lanegan Remix the White Stripes and the Dead Weather

Jack White's label Third Man Records has announced the tenth package in their subscription series "The Vault". It includes a double A-side 7" that includes Beck remixing the White Stripes' 2003 track "The Hardest Button to Button", from their album Elephant and, on the other side, Mark Lanegan and Joshua Homme teaming up to remix the Dead Weather's "Hang You From the Heavens".

The package also includes a live Raconteurs 12" recorded at a September gig at the Third Man store in Nashville, as well as a DVD documenting Third Man's Devil's Night party in 2010. It features the Greenhornes, the Black Belles, and, amazingly, Elvira hosting. The trailer for that is below.

No puedo esperar para escuchar el nuevo album, espero que haya valido la pena esperar 8 largos años.

Ripple, sabes alguna cosa sobre la cancion que hizo con Slash? Estoy buscando por todo internet, pero no doy con nada. Me parece increible que surgiera una colaboracion como esa, y mas aún que no hubo noticias.

Parece que en la gira donde Soulsavers fueron teloneros de Depeche dio sus migas, ademas Gahan tuvo su particular homenaje hacia Lanegan, versioneando Low en su ultima gira...


Igual el gran tapado en esta historia es Martyn LeNoble, que iba como bajista con Soulsavers pero también ha trabajado, entre otros, en algún disco de Dave Gahan en solitario y es buen amigo de Dave, quizás ha sido el puente para que Soulsavers giraran con Depeche Mode y para llevar a Dave a Soulsavers. No imagino Revival ni otras canciones con Gahan, será curioso escucharlo y sobre todo verlo.

No tengo ni idea, porque Lanegan debe hacer eones que no sale por ahi con su propia banda. Yo durante mucho tiempo pensé que Shelley Brien era la ex-mujer de Lanegan (vamos, la tronca de los tatuajes, su corista en directo), pero luego me enteré por un articulo en la "Mojo" que no, que su ex es Wendy Rae Fowler, que participa en "Bubblegum".

Next spring, Steven Janssens, frontman of The Whodads, guitarist of Daan and sound technician at concerts all across Gent (in Belgium), will become the new guitarist of none other than Mark Lanegan, who will be introducing all of Europe to his new record "Blues Funeral". Even more, the whole backing band will consist of Belgians. "Very lucky", is Janssens' first reply.

It was Aldo Struyf of the band Millionaire who proposed Janssen; Lanegan and Struyff know eachother well. Struyf played keyboards on Lanegan's last solo album, the incredible Bubblegum. Struyf also toured with Lanegan with his own band, "Creature with the atom brain". Lanegan asked Aldo Struyf to create a backing band for his tour through europe in spring. He selected himself, Jean-Philippe of Brussels band "Lyenn" and our Steven Janssens from Gent. It is no secret that Janssens is considered as one of the best guitarists of the country. And the man has style: always in a tight suit, and owner of the most well-known Pompadour in all of Gent.

"This is fantastic, of course", says Janssens. "I am seriously very lucky. I knew the name of Mark Lanegan, but had never heard his music. I listened to his new record, Blues FUneral, and it sounds incredibly great. I als like his older stuff. The four of us have already started rehearsing. In december, Mark will come to Antwerp and Gent to rehearse the songs with us. The tour will probably not remain limited to europe".

Who is Mark Lanegan? The man with the raw voice of grunge band Screaming Trees. The man who sang a bunch of - loud - Queens of the Stone Age, and regularly appeared on the stage with them during concerts. The man of the bands Soulsavers, the Gutter Twins and Twilight Singers, and numerous other bands who want him because of his raspy voice. But he's also known as the Beast of his Scottish Belle, Isobell Campbell, with whom we already made three wonderful records. An last but not least, the man of his own solo records. His last, Bubblegum from 2004, was an instant classic.

Pues me gusta mucho, la verdad, de hecho me la había imaginado alguna vez y no sabía que los tiros podían ir por ahí...

A mi me encanta, me gusta muchisimo, y los titulos del album son únicos, típicos de Lanegan. Ahora lo que quiero saber es cómo va a ir orientado, si más por el acústico o si vuelve a la senda rockera de Bubblegum.

A mi me encanta, me gusta muchisimo, y los titulos del album son únicos, típicos de Lanegan. Ahora lo que quiero saber es cómo va a ir orientado, si más por el acústico o si vuelve a la senda rockera de Bubblegum.

A mi me encanta, me gusta muchisimo, y los titulos del album son únicos, típicos de Lanegan. Ahora lo que quiero saber es cómo va a ir orientado, si más por el acústico o si vuelve a la senda rockera de Bubblegum.
