una de las personas que más currado toda su vida porque siga viva la música que nos gusta
www.montreuxjazz.com
me ha parecido raro que nadie comentase nada acerca de él, por eso lo pongo

Funky Claude en Smoke on the water

Re: Claude Nobs RIP
From the Rory Gallagher Facebook page
We are saddened to learn today of the passing of Claude Nobs, the
founder and general manager of the Montreux Jazz Festival. In 1970
Claude went to the Isle of Wight festival in 1970 in hopes of signing
Jimi Hendrix and The Doors to Rock Shows in Montreux; after seeing Rory
and Taste blistering performance there however, he signed Rory too. Thus
beginning a long relationship with Rory at the Montreux festival. In the
liner notes to the Rory Gallagher Live at Montreux collection, Claude
had this to say about Rory: " Rory was one of the nicest people I ever
met, as quiet backstage as he was wild onstage. The day he died I knew
that rock and blues in Montreux would never be the same." With the
passing of Claude Nobs the world has lost another great advocate for the
Blues and music in general.
Montreux Jazz Blog
No sé si habrá actuado alguien más veces que Rory Gallagher en el festival de Montreux, Claude era un gran fan, lo invitó a ir por lo menos en el 75, 77, 79, 85 y 94

Claude Nobs R.I.P
January 11th, 2013
It is with a deep sadness I learnt the news of the passing of Claude Nobs, Director of the Montreux Jazz Festival, he was a wonderful, convivial gentleman.
Claude was a strong supporter and friend to my brother Rory and I, since we first met with him in the Summer of 1969, when Taste played at the Montreux Jazz Festival, through to Rory's final appearance there in '94 and my visit to the festival for a presentation in '08.
All down through the Montreux years that Rory played there, for my brother no performance was complete without inviting harmonica playing Claude on to jam with him and his musicians.
The welcome that Rory received from Claude would see my brother take his 'busman's' holiday in Montreux. In July '75, the diary was cleared to allow Rory and the musicians a well deserved break, in that time, I had travelled out to the States to speak to prospective 'new' record labels interested in Rory's recordings. In the course of taking with Warner Brother Records, I learnt from them that Rory had taken an invitation from Claude (who represented W.B. in Switzerland), to stand in with The Band (in place of Robbie Robertson) who were to reunite with Ronnie Hawkins, at the festival but this gig didn't materialize. However, Rory went to Switzerland anyway making several appearances, from his recorded jam session with Albert King, to an solo acoustic night, standing in with various jazz legends, then recalling his own musicians to come down and play a full Gallagher band set - on borrowed equipment too !! That was the Claude effect.
God bless you and peace go with you Claude to that happy music stratosphere.
