Brad Smith (Blind Melon): One For The Road (Documentary) (2013)
BLIND MELON’S BRAD SMITH LAUNCHES KICKSTARTER FOR ‘ONE FOR THE ROAD’ DOCUMENTARY
Blind Melon guitarist Brad Smith has launched a Kickstarter campaign, below is a description:
Brad Smith, songwriter, producer and founding member of the 90s alternative rock band Blind Melon, travels to foreign countries to play music with the locals and explore the culture.
First Stop Argentina! Brad travels without a band to Buenos Aires to meet Gustavo who is a local concert promoter. Gustavo has assembled a band for him, sight unseen. The band is comprised of local Argentine rock musicians who have taken the liberty of learning a set of Americana songs. These songs will be rehearsed for a couple of days before performing a highly publicized live show, at a hip local club in downtown Buenos Aires. Brad, who hails from Mississippi, doesn’t speak Spanish and will rely solely on the language of music during rehearsals to convey how he would like the set to sound. The set list will be comprised of songs by Tom Petty, Credence Clearwater Revival, Blind Melon and, of course, Abandon Jalopy, Brad’s solo project.
The footage of rehearsals leading up to the live concert will be broken up periodically to give an account of Argentina’s beautifully warm culture, the people, the food and the landmarks. Much of the documentary’s emphasis will be on Brad’s experience immersing himself in the culture of Argentina, such as sampling the traditional drink of Mate and the intricate, traditional BBQ preparations that are unique to Argentina, as well as its nightlife. And since Brad is from Mississippi and has his own ideas about BBQ, (and music) there will be ample opportunity to cover the impending, although humorous, culture clash.
The show will close with Brad taking the stage with his new band of colorful Argentine musicians playing freshly tailored Americana songs in front of an energetic crowd who feels the language of music. No translator necessary.

Supongo, porque la banda no parecen guiris sino el típico grupo local para acompañar al músico.
