su mejor disco, ...... los vi (1 canción) en la penumbra de un club de Atlanta, pero tuve que salir corriendo pues Baroness me esperaban en otro escenario, ....

su mejor disco, ...... los vi (1 canción) en la penumbra de un club de Atlanta, pero tuve que salir corriendo pues Baroness me esperaban en otro escenario, ....   

Los baroness despues del red album se me atraviesan mucho; Kylesa también... joder!! me quedo con revocation, una de las bandas con la música más divertida que he escuchado en mucho tiempo, escuchando sus discos el tiempo se me pasa volando, aunque estos son una suerte de trash metal enrevesado y esquizoide!!!

Amenra (also spelled "Amen Ra") is a post-metal band from Kortrijk, Belgium. The band was formed in 1999 after the demise of the Belgian hardcore band Spineless by three of its members and went on to be one of the most significant European bands worldwide in this genre. History: Following the break-up of their previous band Spineless, vocalist Colin Van Eeckhout, guitarist Mathieu Vandekerckhove and bassist Kristof Mondy sought to form a new band, Amenra, to play music that was deeper, more intense and more introspective than they had before. They enlisted drummer Bjorn Lebon and in 2003 their first album, Mass I, was released. Soon after, the band made an appearance at Ieperfest, which brought them to the attention of the European underground hardcore and metal scene. After a period of experimenting with the line-up of the band, Vincent Tetaert joined the band on guitars. With the release of Mass II in 2004 Amenra was slowly but surely making name for itself with intense live shows. In 2005 Mass III was released during a special show in a chapel in Ghent. - Recomendación: Para mí banda de absoluto culto y de mis favoritas del genero. Totalmente recomendables. Música oscura, melancólica, guitarras hipnóticas, voz desgarradora...lo tienen todo. Yo os recomiendo el Mass III por que es mi disco favorito de ellos pero todos sus discos son altamente recomendables. Además en abril están por aquí tocando.

Pelican es una banda estadounidense de post-metal instrumental originaria de Chicago, pero con base en Los Ángeles. Esta banda es conocida por su densa combinación de melodías y por la larga duración de sus canciones. Su mezcla de doom metal y post-rock los ha convertido en una de las bandas abanderadas del post-metal. Tres de sus cuatro miembros (Larry Herweg, Trevor de Brauw y Laurent Schroeder-Lebec) forman parte de la banda Tusk.
Sobre el estilo de la banda, de Brauw dijo: "No veo a Pelican como una banda de metal. Creo que somos parte de una trayectoria de las bandas de Occidente que tratan de mezclar la agresividad con la sensibilidad del pop, así que aunque seamos instrumentales, no lo somos porque sí. Simplemente no sabíamos cómo poner voces en nuestra música, y así suena bien".
Sobre la condición instrumental de Pelican, Herweg expresó: "Creo que habría limitaciones si tuviéramos un vocalista. Si tuviéramos un forzudo gritando en frente, seríamos clasificados como metal. - Recomendación: personalmente, aún gustándome más o menos sus discos, si que tengo claro que si tengo que recomendar a alguien que escuche pelican le recomendaría sin duda "The Fire In Our..." por que considero que es su mejor disco y no han vuelto a grabar nada a la altura.

Muchas gracias compañero. Russian es más Post Rock, aunque tanto en Empros como en Memorial han endurecido su sonido acercándose más al post metal. A mi me gustan más Russian que Pelican.

El australasia es un gran disco, pero como digo el The Fire..es muy grande!

The Fire es el único que he escuchado realmente y me tuvo loco durante mucho tiempo, ....   

¿Que os parecen Altar of Plagues? No sé si son más black que post, pero también se salen un poco del guión y su disco del año pasado (y al parecer el último por desgracia) me parece una brutalidad.

Esta bastante mejor que el anterior largo, que la verdad para mi fue un poco decepción. Este último tiene partes muy interesantes que parece que recupera la esencia de Pelican de los 2 primeros discos pero hay ciertas cosas que a mi gusto diluyen un poco el resultado final. No es un mal disco, pero tampoco es de los mejores trabajos de Pelican. Un disco notable.

Bueno es una forma bastante acertada de describirlos, aunque creo que la parte metal del disco está bastante presente. De todas formas, tanto a ti como a Hank, si os ha gustado Battle Of Mice, os recomiendo muy mucho el grupo principal de Julie, Made Out Of Babies. Practican una mezcla muy interesante: noise rock, metal, a veces toques del grunge etc...Tienen 3 discos, y muy buenos los 3, pero si tenéis curiosidad poneros el trophy (es el primero que sacaron en 2005), es un grandísimo debut, lleno de personalidad, además de que la voz de Julie demuestra una versatilidad, que enriquece mucho la propuesta musical del grupo.

Bueno es una forma bastante acertada de describirlos, aunque creo que la parte metal del disco está bastante presente. De todas formas, tanto a ti como a Hank, si os ha gustado Battle Of Mice, os recomiendo muy mucho el grupo principal de Julie, Made Out Of Babies. Practican una mezcla muy interesante: noise rock, metal, a veces toques del grunge etc...Tienen 3 discos, y muy buenos los 3, pero si tenéis curiosidad poneros el trophy (es el primero que sacaron en 2005), es un grandísimo debut, lleno de personalidad, además de que la voz de Julie demuestra una versatilidad, que enriquece mucho la propuesta musical del grupo.

Battle of Mice was a post-metal supergroup consisting of Julie Christmas (Made Out of Babies), Josh Graham (ex-Neurosis, ex-Red Sparowes, A Storm of Light), Joel Hamilton (Book of Knots), Tony Maimone (Book of Knots, Pere Ubu), and Joe Tomino (Fugees, Dub Trio, Peeping Tom).
The band was formed when vocalist Julie Christmas and guitarist/keyboardist Josh Graham met in Austin, Texas while touring with their respective bands in 2005. Graham and Christmas, who disliked one another upon first acquaintance, were in an on-again-off-again relationship during the recording of the band's debut album, A Day of Nights. At their worst, the pair refused to play in the same room.
The album, which was released under Neurot Recordings, contains seven tracks heavily influenced by the metal, post-rock and noise rock roots from which the group was derived. The song "At the Base of the Giant's Throat" features a recorded 911 call between vocal sections.
The band's name is derived from a saying by Alexander the Great pertaining to a military invasion of Crete.
On September 3, 2009, a blog was posted on the band's MySpace page stating that the band was parting ways.

Pues no los conocía...y por lo que he oído me recuerdan a una mezcla de portishead con toques metal

Bueno es una forma bastante acertada de describirlos, aunque creo que la parte metal del disco está bastante presente. De todas formas, tanto a ti como a Hank, si os ha gustado Battle Of Mice, os recomiendo muy mucho el grupo principal de Julie, Made Out Of Babies. Practican una mezcla muy interesante: noise rock, metal, a veces toques del grunge etc...Tienen 3 discos, y muy buenos los 3, pero si tenéis curiosidad poneros el trophy (es el primero que sacaron en 2005), es un grandísimo debut, lleno de personalidad, además de que la voz de Julie demuestra una versatilidad, que enriquece mucho la propuesta musical del grupo.

Tephra is a band from Braunschweig, Germany which exists since the end of 2003. Before they formed Tephra all the members played in various local bands who musically were quite diversified. By this they bring many different influences into the band. Tephra play a mix of hardcore, sludge and doom.
Their first release (as a four piece band) was a self-produced Demo cd with 4 songs on it. At the beginning of 2005 they entered the studio to record their first full length Tephra which was released via Riptide Recordings in March 2005.
While constantly touring their debut LP through all of germany and europe they started playing some new songs which now incorporated keyboards and samples and a fifth member. In March 2007 they once again entered the studio to record their sophomore album, entitled A Modicum Of Truth. It was released in October 2007 by Riptide Recordings.

Buried Inside was a Canadian band from Ottawa, Canada.
Formed in 1997, they were influenced by early metalcore and hardcore punk bands such as Acme, One Eyed God Prophecy, Drift, and Union of Uranus. Their sound included distorted vocals, creatively timed drumming, heavy use of octave double stops (which created a very melodic effect), and occasional sampling of gloomy film dialogue or instruments such as the cello. In 2005 they signed to Relapse Records and put out their "concept" album, Chronoclast. In 2009 they released their fourth album, Spoils of Failure. They played their final show on November 13th, 2010.

- Recomendación: Buried Inside es una banda especial. Se requiere tiempo y mimo para adentrarse en la música que plantean. Es un post metal muy rico en matices, en la cual si inviertes el tiempo que se merece consigues una experiencia enriquecedora. Recomiendo encarecidamente la escucha de Chronoclast y Spoils Of Failure, dos grandes albumes.

- Recomendación: A Storm Of Light es una banda peculiar, no sólo, por el simple hecho que esté el ex-neurosis Josh Graham, sino por la forma que tienen de facturar un post metal enrevesado y agobiante a partes iguales. Su música es densa, pesada, con unas partes vocales que personalmente me recuerdan en algunas cosas a Godflesh. Grupo muy recomendable para mentes inquietas y con ganas de desafíos. Yo empezaría por su primer largo, para poder observar de primera mano la evolución que ha habido en su sonido, pasando de ser quizás más atmosféricos a ir más a saco, dando más protagonismo al sludge. Muy interesantes y muy buenos.

Year Of No Light (often abbreviated as YONL) is a French metal band from Bordeaux formed in 2001. For their début album, Nord, YONL drew influence from several genres, including post-rock, sludge, somber psychedelics and depressive atmospheric shoegaze". The second album, Ausserwelt, was not released until 2010 after a significant line-up change in 2008 which established the band as an instrumental sextet, including two drummers and three guitarists. Ausserwelt saw the band's sound develop in the direction of black metal and doom metal while retaining a progressive, post rock feel.
Year of No Light was founded in September 2001 in Bordeaux, France by Johan Sébenne, Bertrand Sébenne, Jérôme Alban and Christophe Mora (Finger Print, Undone,...). Since its conception, Year Of No Light was never a "top priority" band but rather an instrumental side project. After one year of rehearsal, Christophe Mora left the band. Pierre Anouilh succeeded him. One month later, the band played live for the first time.
From 2002 to 2003, they played local shows in Bordeaux. In September 2003, Julien Perez joined the band as a singer. One month later, the new line up played its first show. But Year Of No Light still remains an "active" side project, due to all the others musical activities of the vast majority of its members.
The band finally recorded a demo in June 2004. After its release, the group toured Spain and Basque Country. Following the good feedbacks surrounding the Demo (one review describing Year Of No Light as "The Cure playing Sludge"), the band worked on its first album during the summer 2005. In September 2005, they recorded Nord with Serge Morattel at Geneva, Switzerland. The following year, Nord was released and got good reviews.Year Of No Light began to tour more often in 2006 and played at the famous Dour Festival in 2007. The same year, Nord was reissued on Crucial Blast, for the CD version, and Cavity Records for the LP.
In 2008, Year Of No Light toured Europe and played at the prestigious Roadburn and Hellfest festivals. After several collaborations with acts like Nadja or Fear Falls Burning and some splits recordings, they discarded their singer. At the end of the summer, Year Of No Light becomes a six piece entity with two drums & 3 guitars backed by some vintage synths. Shiran Kaïdine, from Monarch!, and Mathieu Mégemont, from Aérôflôt, have joined the band respectively as third guitarist and second drummer.
In September 2009, the band began to record Ausserwelt in Bordeaux with Cyrille Gachet. In April 2010, following the release of Ausserwelt on Conspiracy, Year Of No Light toured Europe with Irish black metallers Altar of Plagues. The following month, the band worked on a soundtrack for Dreyer's Vampyr, and performed it for the first time, on May 28, 2010, at Barbey Theatre in Bordeaux. In February 2011, Year Of No Light played Vampyr in Tallinn, Estonia. The following months, after having recorded new stuff for upcoming splits, they toured Europe and played two sets at Roadburn: a classical gig (including the totality of Ausserwelt) and the Vampyr performance.
Functioning sometimes like an open collective, Year Of No Light used to punctually be part of sonic performances in collaboration with contemporary artists. Recently, the group has worked with French contemporary artist Christian Vialard for a video installation reinventing Yves Klein's Monotone Symphony. The installation can be seen during an exhibition, Le Temps de l’Ecoute, at la Villa Arson, Nice, from June 24 to October 30, 2011.

- Recomendación: La banda francesa Year Of No Light es un bandón. Tal cual. Quitando Vampyr, que es el único álbum que no me ha gustado nada, los demás son muy recomendables. Tanto si empezáis por Nord, donde aún tenían partes vocales como si acudís a Ausserwelt o su última referencia, Tocsin, los vais a disfrutar y mucho.

por cierto, creo que no lo has puesto, pero en este estilo yo pondría a Intronaut (grandioso su ultimo disco) ..o incluso Alcest...
