The Roger Waters – Us + Them tour will launch in the U.S. on May 26 in Kansas City and wrap up on Oct. 28 in Vancouver. In between, he’ll play more than 40 dates in the States and Canada, including shows in Denver, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston and Toronto. You can see the full list of tour dates below.
A press release announcing the tour promises the tour “will showcase highlights from Waters’ groundbreaking body of work.” Presumably, the 1973 song that gives the tour its name — “Us and Them,” from Pink Floyd‘s landmark The Dark Side of the Moon album — will be one of them.
“We are going to take a new show on the road, the content is very secret,” Waters says. “It’ll be a mixture of stuff from my long career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably 75 percent of it will be old material and 25 percent will be new, but it will be all connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you. It’ll be spectacular like all my shows have been.”
The press release also notes that Waters’ stage show feature a state-of-the-art audio-visual production and quad sound, and hints that the upcoming concerts will include even more spectacular sights and sounds.
This will be Waters’ first tour since The Wall Live, which ran from 2010-13. That world tour reached more than four million fans and, according to the press release, “remains the highest grossing tour by any solo artist in history.”
Waters was part of the Desert Trip classic-rock festival in California last weekend. He returns this weekend for another round.
Tickets for Roger Waters – Us + Them go on sale on Oct. 21; VIP packages and Citi pre-sale tickets start on Oct. 17 (except for the Canadian dates). In addition to the shows listed below, concerts in San Antonio and Winnipeg will be added later. You can find more ticket information at AEG Live‘s site.

Last year the former Pink Floyd leader described the work as “challenging” and “scary,” and revealed that it was based around the question: “Why are we killing the children?”

“I had written a radio play with about a dozen songs in it. It was the story of an old Irishman who is babysitting. The thing starts off with a two-minute monologue of discontent – ‘Our children and grandchildren, ceaselessly bent over their computers, I fucking hate this, I fucking hate that.’

“You eventually discover that he’s babysitting. He goes in to look after the kid, and it's his granddaughter. She is having a nightmare, and the nightmare is someone is killing all the children.

“He says, ‘No, they’re not. They haven't killed any children since the Troubles.’ And the kid says, ‘Not here, Grandpa. Over there.’ The grandfather promises they will go on a quest to find the answer to this question: Why are they killing all the children? It is a fundamentally important question.

“So I wrote this whole thing – part magic carpet ride, part political rant, part anguish. I played this to Nigel. And so we’ve been working.”

He adds: “I’ve also been falling in love, deeply in love. So the record is really about love – which is what all of my records have been about, in fact. It’s pondering not just why we’re killing the children. It’s also the question of how do we take these moments of love, if we are granted any in our lives, and allow that love to shine on the rest of existence, on others.”

He says the radio play was “completely thrown out” in the process of developing the album, but he aims to have it made separately.

And he believes there’s an upside to the problems faced by the modern music industry. “There are no constraints on records now because nobody pays you anything for them,” he says.

“So everything’s off the table. I feel for young musicians, knowing that all of your work will be stolen, and nobody wants to pay you.

“It also means you can say anything you want. Well, I've always said anything I've wanted anyway.”

Waters is working on the stage theatrics for his Us + Them tour, which follows his later outing with his The Wall show in 2013. He says: “You have to forget about The Wall, because you can’t do bigger or more complex.

“The spectacle is an interesting thing, because I can say I invented it. The Wish You Were Here tour had some of that, and the Animals tour in 1977. And then there was The Wall. After that, everybody did spectacle.”

Asked whether he believes his modern audience is as “politically open and comitted” as in Floyd’s early days, Waters replies: “It’s quite clear that this is not the case.

“Unfortunately, the Trump exceptionalism, all of his racist rhetoric, is feeding an electorate that feels defeated. But it’s not the foreigner who’s defeated you. It’s the one percent that owns everything.”

Conocía el disco desde hace años, claro, y desde luego, no era ni de lejos de mis favoritos, pero en aquel concierto (ciertamente en el 2011), no sé que pasó, que "vi la luz" ahí mismo... me quedé boquiabierto y casi en trance todo el show, flipando...y como si fuera por arte de magia, en aquel momento, conecté profundamente con el disco y su historia...no sé. fue muy raro, la verdad...

Tanto es así, que al día siguiente de aquel concierto, no paraba de darle vueltas al asunto, y no me lo pensé mucho mas... saque entrada y vuelo para volverlo a ver unos pocos días después de Barcelona, y lo gocé incluso más...

Desde entonces, es mi disco favorito de la banda, y gracias a el, creo conocer y entender algo mejor a Waters e incluso, a mi mismo.

Lo que sentí coincide al 100x100 con lo tuyo. No pude hacer lo de Barcelona eso sí 

Ese concierto fue un antes y un después en mi relación con pink floyd, y ojo, también con el rock en cierta medida. A partir de ese año fue cuando empecé a escuchar bandas compulsivamente. A los 20 años que tenía por entonces no había vivido una experiencia audiovisual que me marcara tanto hasta esto.
